With its remote trekking ttrails, the Manaslu region is a treasure of natural and cultural beauty. The area offers mainly two famed trekking trails, both exciting and intriguing. The first most famously explored are the Manaslu Circuit Trek, and the second is the Tsum Valley and Manaslu Combined Circuit Trek. The popular Manaslu trekking trail of 177 kilometres, a circuit only permitted by the Nepalese Government since 1991, skirts the Manaslu massif and connects the Annapurna Circuit Trail at Dharapani. The trekking route follows an ancient salt-trading route along the Buri Gandaki River, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. In the circuit, 10 peaks over 6,500 meters are visible, including a few over 7,000 meters. The highest elevation reached along the trekking trail is the Larke Pass, at 5,100 meters. The views of Mt Manaslu, the world’s eighth highest mountain, are the most attractive and close. Besides Manaslu, the most prominent peaks are Buddha Himal and Himal Chuli, both seen from many vantage points between Kathmandu and Pokhara.
