Dakshin Kali
Dakshin Kali located 17-kilometres to the south of Kathmandu is the name given to the temple and sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Kali. Tuesdays and Saturdays are main days, and animal sacrifices are offered to the goddess to turn her destructive energy away from humans.
The trip to the sanctuary takes approximately one hour in a private vehicle. The route goes by the famous Chobar gorge and offers many scenic views of the Kathmandu Valley. Along the way, one can visit a very ancient sanctuary dedicated to Vishnu (Shekara Narayan) and pass through Pharping, which contains many Buddhist monasteries.
