Thimi

Thimi lies about 10-kilometres east of Kathmandu, near Bhaktapur city., and it is well-known for pottery, making of masks and vegetable growing. Thimi boasts exceptional complex scenes of temples, shrine, and statues. Three-tiered Balkumari Pagoda, of the 16th century, is noted for its artistic grandeur. The temple area of Goddess Balkumari, which is the main deity of town, mostly remains busy with enchanting cultural and religious activities from the farmer community.

Besides this, there are two-tiered Mahalaxmi temple of the 17th century, of Bode, three-tiered Siddhi Ganesh temple of Nagadesh Lachhi Tole, two-tiered Siddhikali (Inaya Ko) temples are some examples of superb craftsmanship. Divyaswori temple of Lokanthali is peculiar and rare of its kind in the whole of the kingdom.

There are also ten Buddhist courtyards, Bahals, for monks including Nagadesh Bouddha Bihar. Among which Hembarna Mahabihar established in 810 Nepal Sambat is leading Bihar of Thimi. It has 108 images of Lokeshor Buddha painted around the Bahal.
